Here’s a festive recipe for Christmas Jam, a delicious blend of fruits that makes a perfect gift or holiday treat!
Christmas Jam
Ingredients:
- 2 cups cranberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup strawberries (hulled and chopped, fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Fruit:
- If using fresh cranberries, rinse and drain them. In a large pot, combine cranberries, strawberries, and raspberries.
- Cook the Fruit:
- Add the sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger (if using) to the pot. Stir to combine.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture starts to bubble. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
- Simmer:
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, stirring often. The cranberries will burst, and the mixture will thicken.
- Check Consistency:
- To test the jam’s consistency, place a spoonful on a cold plate. If it holds its shape after a minute, it’s ready. If not, simmer a bit longer.
- Jar the Jam:
- Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace. Seal with lids while still warm.
- Cool:
- Allow the jars to cool at room temperature before storing them in the refrigerator. The jam can also be processed in a water bath for longer shelf life.
Tips:
- This jam pairs beautifully with cheese boards or as a spread on toast.
- Feel free to add spices like allspice or cloves for extra warmth!
Enjoy your festive Christmas Jam!
