cinnamon apples

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for cinnamon apples, perfect as a side dish, dessert, or topping for pancakes and oatmeal!

Cinnamon Apples

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith, Fuji, or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Apples:
    • In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Cook the Apples:
    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Stir to combine.
    • Add the sliced apples to the skillet and stir well to coat them in the cinnamon mixture.
  3. Sauté:
    • Cook the apples for about 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender but still slightly firm. Adjust the cooking time based on how soft you prefer your apples.
  4. Add Vanilla:
    • Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve warm as a side dish, over ice cream, or on top of pancakes or oatmeal.

Tips:

  • For added texture, consider including raisins or chopped nuts.
  • You can also add a splash of apple cider for extra flavor!
