Easy and Delicious Grilled Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of your favorite bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2-3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or a mix of your favorites)
  • Optional extras: tomato slices, bacon, or herbs for added flavor

Instructions:

1. Prep the Bread:

  • Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Make sure the butter is softened so it spreads easily and evenly. The buttered side will be on the outside of the sandwich, ensuring a crispy, golden crust.

2. Assemble the Sandwich:

  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface.
  • Add your slices of cheese on top. You can layer different types of cheese for a more complex flavor, or keep it simple with one variety like sharp cheddar or creamy American.
  • Place the second slice of bread on top, with the buttered side facing out.

3. Grill the Sandwich:

  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, place the sandwich in the skillet.
  • Grill for about 2-4 minutes on the first side, or until the bread turns golden brown and crispy. Use a spatula to press down lightly on the sandwich to help the cheese melt.
  • Flip the sandwich over carefully and grill the other side for another 2-3 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

4. Serve:

  • Remove the grilled cheese from the pan and let it sit for a minute before cutting (this helps the cheese set a bit).
  • Slice diagonally (if you prefer) and serve immediately with a side of tomato soup, salad, or your favorite dipping sauce!
