Homemade Queso fundido

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for homemade queso fundido!

Queso Fundido Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (225g) of cheese (like Oaxaca, Chihuahua, or Monterey Jack), shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1-2 jalapeños or serrano peppers, seeded and diced (adjust to your heat preference)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon cumin (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Tortilla chips or warm tortillas (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the diced peppers and garlic, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the cumin (if using) and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Add the shredded cheese to the skillet, stirring until melted and well combined. If you prefer a creamier texture, you can add a splash of milk or cream.
  6. Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe dish and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
  7. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped cilantro.
  8. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or warm tortillas for dipping.
