Here’s a simple recipe for No-Oven Stovetop Bread that you can make on the stovetop!

No-Oven Stovetop Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 3/4 cup milk (or water)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar (if using). Whisk together until well mixed.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients:
    • Add the milk and olive oil (or melted butter) to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour; if it’s too dry, add a splash more milk.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    • Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough for about 1-2 minutes until smooth. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Shape the Bread:
    • Divide the dough into 4-6 equal portions and shape them into flat rounds about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Cook on the Stovetop:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the rounds of dough in the skillet (you may need to cook in batches). Cover with a lid and cook for about 5-7 minutes on one side, or until golden brown.
    • Flip the bread and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the bread is cooked through.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove from the skillet and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your stovetop bread warm with butter, jam, or alongside your favorite dishes!

Tips:

  • You can add herbs, cheese, or spices to the dough for extra flavor.
  • Store any leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days.
