Ham and Swiss Cracker Melts are a quick, savory appetizer or snack that’s perfect for parties, gatherings, or a cozy bite at home. These easy-to-make melts feature layers of ham and Swiss cheese on crackers, baked until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sleeve of Ritz crackers (or your favorite buttery crackers)
  • 8 oz sliced deli ham (thinly sliced)
  • 8 oz Swiss cheese, sliced (or shredded if preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2: Prepare the Crackers

  1. Arrange Crackers:
    • Lay the crackers flat in a single layer on a baking sheet or a large oven-safe dish.

Step 3: Layer the Ham and Swiss Cheese

  1. Add Ham:
    • Place a slice of deli ham on top of each cracker. If the slices are large, you can fold them or cut them into smaller pieces to fit the crackers.
  2. Add Cheese:
    • Place a slice of Swiss cheese over the ham on each cracker. If using shredded cheese, sprinkle about a tablespoon of cheese on top of each ham slice.

Step 4: Make the Topping

  1. Mix Butter and Seasonings:
    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with Dijon mustard (if using), garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well combined.
  2. Brush the Topping:
    • Lightly brush the melted butter mixture over the top of the cheese.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Bake the Melts:
    • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 5-8 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the crackers are slightly golden.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  1. Garnish:
    • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley for a fresh touch and color.
  2. Serve:
    • Serve the Ham and Swiss Cracker Melts warm, and enjoy them as a snack, appetizer, or even as part of a light meal!

Tips:

  • Add Extras: For a bit of extra flavor, you can add a slice of pickle or a dollop of mustard on top before baking.
  • Customize the Cheese: If you’re not a fan of Swiss cheese, you can easily substitute it with cheddar, provolone, or another type of cheese.
